Imagine starting a church in a city that is a mixture of Las
Vegas, New Orleans, and New York City. Spend a year and a half with the people
of the city teaching them the message of Jesus the Christ, and then let them go
for about three years . . . What would you find? The Corinthian church had issues! Paul addresses these issues in the first of two letters to this church in its “toddler” years . . . issues like worshiping messengers over the message, sexual immorality, church discipline, marriage, spiritual gifts, and how this world is going to end.
We will probably work through this text most of the summer . . . whatever it
takes!
